Practical priorities for District 2.
County decisions affect the services residents use every day and the responsible use of public resources.
Responsible use of taxpayer dollars
Review operating costs and duplication, work to control property taxes, and evaluate borrowing based on clear long-term value.
Plan for responsible growth
Consider how development affects roads, county services, existing neighborhoods, and future costs.
Make services easier to use
Address delays at licensing centers and in social services. Review processes and computer systems so residents can get timely help.
Healthy, safe, strong communities
Support responsible environmental initiatives and opportunities for local graduates and entrepreneurs, with attention to affordability and results.
Oppose the 2026 $40 million bond
Edison opposes borrowing $40 million, plus interest, for additional parkland and wetland easements. He argues existing state, DNR, Metropolitan Council, and city funding can support conservation and park needs, while privately owned easements would not create public access. He would prioritize better services and education and employment opportunities for young adults.
Question the cost and results
Edison points to an estimated capital project cost of about $500 million, including about $103 million from Washington County’s transportation sales tax. He says low ridership means operating deficits for years, the line has not improved I-94 traffic in Oakdale and Woodbury, and county funds could better improve existing express bus service.
